We are honored to have this chance to introduce ourselves!
My husband Bob and I have been married since 1977 and have 2 grown children and are now the PROUD grandparents of our first grandchild, Joseph Thomas, born in December of 2009. We are typical Baby Boomers, born in the 50’s and now looking at retirement.
We both graduated from University of Iowa (even though neither of us is from Iowa). Bob with a Pharmacy degree and I received a degree in Interior Design. Bob went to work for corporate America and I stayed home to raise our son and our daughter. We were transferred around a lot, 13 times in 13 years chasing the American Dream. We landed in the Denver area near my parents and raised our kids here. At that time I went to work for the family business, an antique shop which my parents had started.
I loved the antique business and discovered I was really good at it. We drove around the country in an 18 ft delivery type truck, picking up antiques and bringing them back to Colorado. We had a booming business which was pretty good to us in the thriving economy of the ‘90’s and our Antique Show that we sponsored was written up in a National Magazine.
We enlarged our business not knowing what lurked just a few short years ahead of us. Bob had gotten down sized several times (usually by phone or email) and we lost all trust in Corporate America. We concentrated our efforts on the antique shop as small business owners. We even opened a woman’s clothing boutique and a restaurant. With 3 businesses to run we were exhausted!!!!! As the economy continued to sink, we both looked at each other and wondered if we were still having fun! As it got more and more challenging to make ends meet, our trust in small businesses was now also gone! We invested our life savings trying to keep our businesses open. What happened to our American Dream????
One day, a friend of mine introduced me to the Business of Body Balance. I really wasn’t looking for anything new. The antique business was all I knew and we couldn’t imagine adding more to our plate. But while I was listening to my friend a giant light bulb went on for me.
I realized that what was missing for us was truly making a difference for people! Providing antiques and the expertise to create a new room in someone’s home was fun, it was just making a small difference for that person. With this opportunity we had the ability to make a GIGANTIC difference for people. We were able to sell our antique business for about half of its appraised value and closed the boutique and the restaurant.
That was 3 years ago and we are now in full time income from our Life Force business. Now in our 50’s we are so grateful to now have a way to retire. As brand new grandparents, it has become more and more clear that we do not want to “work”. What lights us up is to make a difference for people. With Bob’s expertise in Pharmacy, and training as communication coaches we have been able to be pro-active in helping people with their health challenges and share with them what’s possible. We look forward to helping you as well!
